Keep the story. And the voice telling it.

1. Ask permission to record and agree on who in the family should be able to listen.
2. Choose a quiet spot and one photograph, question or memory to start with.
3. Open Archive, choose Memories, then Add a memory. Choose Record a voice, then Record a voice memory and allow microphone access when your browser asks.
4. Record, stop and listen back. When you are happy with it, choose Add to uploads.
5. Wait for the Saved confirmation, then open the memory to add a title, link people and fill in any details you know.

You can sit together and use one device. No person profile is needed to start; you can link people afterwards. Recording is also available from a person’s Memories. If you already recorded the conversation, upload the audio instead.

Pick one that feels comfortable. Leave room for pauses, follow the details that interest them, and let them skip any question.

• Take me through an ordinary morning from a time you remember fondly.
• Choose a photograph: what was happening just outside the picture?
• What story have you been hoping someone would ask you about?

Each audio memory can be up to 10 minutes and 25 MB. For a longer interview, save separate recordings with meaningful titles, such as “The house on Elm Street” and “Our first family holiday.”

Our Story accepts MP3, M4A, WAV and WebM audio. Browser recording needs microphone permission. Keep the recording screen open until your memory has finished saving.

Audio preservation works without AI. Transcription is available only when enabled for your archive and within its AI allowance. When available, review the result: names, dates and family expressions may need correcting.

The original recording remains the reference for what was actually said.
