- An owner role
Two kinds of copy
Keep a copy of your family archive: Download GEDCOM and Create full archive ZIP
Select the image to view the full screenshot.
- GEDCOM
- The tree alone: names, dates and family connections, downloaded at once. Other genealogy apps read it; a few relationship types use Our Story extensions and notes they may not.
- Full archive ZIP
- The tree, records, memories and every original file, plus readable HTML pages and JSON with the relationships, evidence and archive details. Built in the background; you download it when it is ready.
Build the ZIP
Step 1. Open More → Settings → Billing & access and scroll to Keep a copy of your family archive.
Step 2. Choose Create full archive ZIP. The status moves from Queued to Building archive; you can leave the page.

Step 3. Come back for Ready to download and download it. A ready export expires after a while; build a new one when you need it.

Read the copy without the app
Unzip the file and open the HTML index in any browser: the people, their memories and records, and each original file next to its context. Recordings play on their item pages, and translations sit beside their originals. Photographs and documents are the files you uploaded, untouched.
The archive backup checklist covers where to keep copies and how often to refresh them.
Printable chapters
For a keepsake rather than a backup, Make a printable chapter gathers one life, or a book of several, into pages you can print. See chapters and the family book.
